Papaveri Rossi (Red Poppies) - Tuscany Landscape

Original Oil Tuscany Landscape PaintingOil on 3/4" deep Gallery Wrapped Canvas
12" high x 16" wide
$960.00
Available

After the death of my beloved dog Ruffo, entering the studio to paint has been quite a challenge, but non the less, life continues, or so they say. I finished this landscape from Tuscany a couple of days ago. A nice field of grass, wild poppies and a vineyard with the view of mountains as far as your eyes can go.

Good Bye Dear Ruffo... R.I.P.

Today I had to do one of the hardest things in my life. I took my 16 years old German Bracco named Ruffo to the vet this afternoon, hopping they would give me a pill or something that would make him feel better. Instead the reassurance of what deep inside me I knew all along became a reality. Ruffo was in bad shape and although his adorable spirit of big puppy was there cheering me up and barking for goldfish, his body and his heart were not working on his behalf. He looked at me many times walking towards the door like saying "common mommy! let's go for a walk" but this was his last ride ever.

Ruffo, my gorgeous german bracco born in Venezuela, South America 16 years ago, who came with us in an airplane to the US, an always big puppy who would make us laugh with his cute face and incredible character died today in my arms, surrounded by love, hugs and kisses from the first person who saw him come to this world the night of July 15, 1992.

He was an incredible dog, full of energy and disposition and with and incredible personality. My inspiration for painting and my companion loyal for so long.

I will miss you with all my heart my big puppy. I will miss you so much...

Peach Pies for $10 - Revisited

Original Oil Figurative Oil PaintingOil on 3/4" deep Hardboard
8" high x 8" wide
$380.00
Available

This is the second painting I'm doing of this same scene. A kid on a bench during the Peach Festival not too far away from where I live in Michigan in a town called Romeo (the same town from where Kid Rock is from) a very hot afternoon helping mom sell peach pies for $10 along with many other home made goodies during the Peach Festival. Next to him there was the white tent where the rest of the pies where being offered for sale by mom and dad. The kid had some on the bench with him in the white box just for the cars that would stop to buy a pie without having to actually leave the car, how clever! The entire scene was really interesting, a moment captured in a snap literally speaking, but what I really like about this painting is the game of light and really dark areas and how the street reflects on the window just behind the kid. A very interesting piece to revisit. To bid just click on the link above.

8" high x 8" wide

Sold

I did this painting a few weeks ago for a friend of mine, and I wanted to share the painting for today's post since I wasn't able to finish anything for today. I'm really pleased at how the painting turned out. This was a fun painting to do for the play of dark and light areas. If you would like to commission a similar painting just contact me.

Shadows in the Wheat Field

Original Oil Provence Landscape PaintingOil on 1/8" deep Hardboard
5" high x 7" wide
$250.00
Available

I was driving the other day and I happened to come across a beautiful golden wheat field. Next to the field a red farm and far away a house. It reminded me of the golden wheat fields in France. Fair enough I started looking for the pictures of the French countryside I took a few years ago. Sure the wheat field I found just a few miles up my house here in Michigan is as beautiful as the ones in France, so I went down again to take a few pictures, so hopefully the next wheat field I pain would be the one from Michigan and not France.

Vineyards Outside Bordeaux, France

Original Oil Provence Landscape PaintingOil on 1/8" deep Hardboard
5" high x 7" wide
$250.00
Available

Bordeaux is well known for its wines more than anything else. What part of France is not, you would say, but the wines of this area are particular, so is the landscape.

Water Carriers

Figurative Oil PaintingOil on 3/8" deep Hardboard
6" high x 6" wide
$250.00
Available

These two kids I found at the lake on Stoney Creek Park here in Michigan were extremely busy filling the recently opened hole they made in the sand. A pool, you would guess, well more or less. I kept staring at them because they were very into it. It was not a game of any sort, they both looked very inspired and very determined to fill the hole bucket by bucker of water. They kept both going back and forth each one carrying its own bucket.

Lost Somewhere in France

Original Oil Figurative PaintingOil on 3/8" deep Hardboard
6" high x 6" wide
$250.00
Available

This painting has tons of incredibly interesting parts and it was challenging from the beginning, in fact I've been trying to paint this image ever since I took the picture in our second road trip to France back in 2005. I'm not good at painting cars, and on top having to paint such a beautiful old car I admit was nervous from the start, what a beauty!

On our second road trip to France, we had the opportunity to stop on literally every single town we found on our way to Paris. You have no idea how beautiful is to drive through out France until you reach Paris, what a nightmare of city! in terms of driving of course. After Poitiers, we drove through the town of Richelieu, yes the town of Cardinal Richelieu. On our way out we stopped at a small palace to take some pictures and soon we found ourselves stepping back in time... well kind of. A rally of old cars was taking place. The people sure looked like they were lost, which was perfect for me to take pictures. Quite a few cars passed in front of us and even did a U turn right on the parking lot we were standing on. Every people on the streets just stopped to watch the parade of beautiful cars. This couple was truly lost. They drove back and forth 5 times until finally they stopped where we were standing and after the woman looked at the manual and talked to her partner, finally it seems they found their way to continue the rally and all the cars disappeared. I was amazed at how some were dressed, like the lady in this car. They sure seemed to be having a great time.
